DVD

*Video slideshow included at the end of this post, after DVD sample *

A wonderful collection of still images, a few sweeping 360 degree video clips, and audio voice overs’ were compiled by my younger brother Zak, in the form of a DVD. This DVD chronicles our 2,200 mile journey on the Appalachian Trail.  The pictures are all set to audio clips (see below for a listing with links to the lyrics).

This hike was quite special for me and Joe.  As with most successful expeditions, the desire for personal enrichment was at the root of our journey. Although there was an opportunity to, we did not wish to associate this expedition with a particular cause (e.g., sustainable energy, environmentalism, or nature deficit disorder) because regardless of one’s sincerity, we believed these associations come secondary to the actual adventure itself. In this spirit I can not put a price on this film – – – I can only offer it as a gift. Beyond contributing a fixed amount to my marginal production and shipping expenses as acknowledgment of our shared beliefs in this film, all I can do is ask that you return a gift to me in exchange for my efforts. This gift is a reflection of gratitude for purposeful, meaningful, and lasting motion picture artwork. Whatever your gift will be it will come naturally, and you will feel good about it.

With that being said, I fully understand the paradox of choice. For some, an open ended “price” may not liberate, but debilitate. It might even be said to tyrannize. This is not my intention. If you need a concrete market value “price,” please use $19.99 for the price of a new release DVD and $3.99 for the price of shipping.

To request your DVD, please send an email to jtsuhar@gmail.com with “Appalachian Trail DVD” in the subject line. Be sure to include what you plan to offer as well as your name and mailing address. I will then send you my home address, via email. I will mail your DVD, once I receive your “monetary donation” or your “gift.”

Note: This film contains no glamorous packaging or labeling. The Menu Screen consists of “The Appalachian Trail Thru Hike 2009 (which is the full movie)” and then 2 options including the video clips “1-11″ and “1-4.” The duration of the film is 1:24:15 (1 hour, 24 minutes, 15 seconds). The AT movie begins immediately. To view the menu screen you must select menu via your remote. The film is displayed best in wide screen viewing mode.

Also Please Note: All profits received will be donated to Growing Power’s Good Food Revolution.
